STEPS to make your Homepage and Website in 20 minutes
STEP1
Login The First Step in Creating your new website
is to login to your FlashBuilder account.
Type your username and password into the corresponding
fields, then click the login button.
STEP2
Website
Style - Intro The next step in creating your new website
is to choose an Intro. Intro¡¦s
are a 10-15 second movie that will precede
your actual website. They are designed to
be an energetic overview of the detailed information
you will be showcasing in your site. Take
note if the two dropdown boxes on the right
side of the SiteBuilder interface. Choose
an intro category from the top pulldown, and
then select the actual intro you would like
displayed from the second pulldown
Website Style - Intro Content
Website Title: Your website name goes here.
Website Slogan: Your website slogan goes here
Paragraphs 1-5: FlashBuilder Intros are designed
with five separate paragraphs that will be
displayed at various times throughout the
intro movie. Simply type in the text field
what you would like to be displayed. If you
do not wish to use all five boxes, simply
leave the ones you don¡¦t want
displayed blank.
Delay: Delay is the amount of pause time between
paragraphs, displayed in seconds. At any point,
you can switch between sections of the interface
and your data will be saved. Don¡¦t
worry about clicking somewhere else by mistake
and losing any data you¡¦ve typed
in. When you have completed your intro text,
you may click the Intro theme button to return
to the Intro chooser and preview what your
intro will look like.
STEP3
Website
Interface
Website interface defines the look and feel
of your links, page transitions, text display
and button styles.
Simply choose a category from the pulldown
menu, and then select an interface from its
pulldown.
A mini preview will be shown below the pulldowns,
or you can click the preview button at anytime.
Website Theme
Your website theme is the background image
for your site.
You may choose a background image from the
themes provided, or you can click the Upload
Your Image button in the upper right corner.
If you choose to upload your own image, it
MUST be 750 x 400 pixels in order to be displayed
properly.
Follow these steps to upload your own image:
1. Click the Upload your Image button
2. Click the browse button from the popup
window.
3. Locate the file on your computer and select
it, and click open
4. Click the upload button from the popup
Uploading you own image can take anywhere
from 5 second to 10 minutes depending on your
Internet connection. If you have a slow connection,
please be patient. Also be aware that the
Flashbuilder will compress your image some,
but if your file size is large, it may increase
the loading time of your website. You can
click the Preview button at anytime to see
how your site is coming along.
Background Music This interface allows you to choose a
Background Music loop for your site. The music
will be able to be switched on and off from
your site. Simply choose a category from the
pulldown menu, and then select a loop from
the pulldown below.
You may also upload your own music in mp3
format by clicking the "Upload Your MP3"
in the upper right corner of the interface.
STEP4
Website
Content
The Website Content Screen is where you will
enter all the information you wish to be displayed
on your site.
Main Pages: On the left of the interface are
10 buttons. Each on of these can be a button
on your site. By clicking one of the main
page buttons, the text editor in the lower
center of the interface will become active.
You may type anything you want into the box,
and it functions just like your favorite text
editor, with a few minor changes. This editor
functions around the use of HTML tags to modify
the text appearance. To modify a sentence
or word, highlight it and click the text modifier
of your choice (bold, italic, etc). To view
what it will look like on your site, click
the "View WYSIWYG" button. There
are two Static buttons in the main page sections,
the home page (symbolized by the house icon)
and the contact button (symbolized by the
I with a circle around it). These two buttons
will always be present in your site, the rest
of the buttons will only be viewable if you
have typed content into that buttons text
editor. This allows you to customize how big
or small you want your site at any time.
HTML Header/Footer: The Html Header and footer
buttons allow you to enter html code to be
displayed above and below your site. If you
leave these areas blank you movie will stretch
to fit the whole browser window.
Sub Pages
After selecting a button from the main pages
other than the homepage or contact information,
you will be presented with the sub pages screen
shown above.
Sub pages work just like main pages with the
exception that they are only available for
selection after one of the main pages has
been clicked. Sub pages may not have images
associated with them.
Images
For each main page, you are allowed to upload
five images. Click the upload image button
located in the upper right corner of the interface
to begin the process. After your image has
been uploaded, you can add a description for
it in the text area to to the left of the
image.
STEP5
Movie
Width
In general, it¡¦s a good idea
to leave your movie size set to 100% by 100%;
this allows your site to stretch to fit any
browser size.
If you would like you movie to remain a static
size, you may enter a pixel value into either
of the boxes.
Website Modules
FlashBuilder and 3rd Party modules allow you
to extended the features of your website by
adding "snap in" components.
Select a module to add to your site from the
pulldown and you will see some configuration
options appear.
Each module has its own options to configure
so please check with the authors documentation
for exact details.
Preview and Save 1. Save your website (click Save Web Site
button )
2. delete your temporary internet files
3. preview your website.
